Next Run - 02nd December - Our Christmas Run

Your Hares: Skidmark & Sherpa

Location: Samford - John Scott Park. UBD Page 106 - M/14. Start Time 5 PM

Circle: At the Park then afterwards the Samford Pub for dinner. So come and join us for a little bit of Christmas fare.

The Last Run was fun:

Big Ears & Too Mature issue the Pack comprehensive run instructions.  Ate a Lot then promptly lead the whole Pack astray at the first check, claimed he was hard or hearing at the brief and didn't see the Hash sign he tripped over!!!

Biggus Dickus donned his made to measure suit to lead the Shout Up.

Too Mature & Big Ears were rewarded for their excellent run.  Later they provided Hash with a couple of great curries. Thanks guys we look forward to seeing you more often.

1st timers to Samford H3 were Noddy, Ate a Lot & from the UK Hash Scene David & Faye

2 Virgins were brought forward, Kyoko from Kyoto & James from Saskatchewan.  The latter got a down down from Skiddy who wisely informed the Hash not to trust a Canadian when it comes to describing the temperature of the pool water - well we all know "when it sounds too good to be true it usually is" - James can swop his stories with fellow Canadian Whippet who is on winter duties with Gerbils in Ulan Bator
To all those new visitors a warm welcome - see you again. On On

Last Run

As the Hares promised, it was a blast of the past. We set off from the Hares cave dwelling towards Mt Nebo and the land of T Rex. Why is Bootie always in front?

It wasn't long before we were all posing in front of Highvales very own creator of life size animal creations, both young and old
The Hares Spiceus Girl-orius and Humourmongerous who provided the Hash with baby T Rex eggs covered in Sate Sauce, ferns plucked from around the cave and road kill preserved in something bloody hot so it never goes bad! Thanks Hares it was, as usual, really yummy.

Lake Manchester Ekka Day Walk

Skiddy & Sherpa's annual Ekka Day walk always attracts a good crowd - Rivita missed the briefing but was first out.

Some discovered that a walk around the lake is not as flat as one might hope - see the graph on the previous post which  was from Whippets GPS

Bootie leads the way

We were joined for lunch

Last Words & Photo - Here They Are:

Pizza’s maiden run for Samford Inc should have been a pizza cake, but the crusty old campaigner had a few tricks up his sleeve to leave the pack more befuddled and bemused than usual.

As we prepared for the start of the run, we were hit by the chilling realisation that nobody had brought the beer and vino, so a rescue team was hastily despatched to the nearby Gaythorne RSL Club with strict instructions to return with the sustenance of life.

Joining us for the first time, was Rumourmonger’s nephew, Max, a veterinary student from Newcastle, England, who is in Oz to gain livestock management experience on a cattle station. Told the hash was the biggest load of bull going, he was happy to tag along, although still a bit sore from having run a marathon in Blighty a few days earlier.

Within minutes of setting off, the pack was in total disarray, with checks and back checks and false trails at every turn.  Down one side-street, we came across a possum, glassy-eyed, open-mouthed and showing no vital signs (bit like some of our runners actually!)

Our esteemed GM, Cuntry Member, who has been missing in action of late, tried his best to rally the troops, even if he did backtrack at the one and only water crossing for fear of getting his tootsies wet! The trail eventually emerged at the Brookside Shopping Centre, but to the disappointment of the women (and possibly some of the guys), it was too late for a brief linger in the lingerie department.

Back at the circle, Pizza cooked up a warming BBQ. Down-downs went to the hare for a great run, Max for being a Samford virgin, Flower for letting Wopa go off to lunch with two women, and Skidmark and Sherpa and Rumourmonger and Spice Girl for their respective anniversaries.
As a special going away present, Bootee presented Max with an arm-length rubber glove for those moments of bovine intimacy that most of us would rather not think about before dinner.

Bootee strenuously denied that Biggus Dickus had purchased this elongated protective sheath during one of his regular trips to the adult shop down the road, claiming it was her own handiwork and much more exciting than crochet. But just to make sure it was properly sterilised Max was given a second down-down.... straight out of the glove!!

Thanks Pizza for a great run! On, On!

Last Run: Samford Inc's new Hares Biggus Dickus & Bootee

This has to be the best inner city run that we have done. We departed from their Italian Villa at McDowall (complete with an original tiled Mafioso butchers table for informants) into the Chermside Hills Reserve.

Undulating and well marked trails, which included the Giwadha Track, took us through some delightful forest and along crystal clear streams. As an added bonus there were several trails through the forest itself and apart from the start and end not a trace of tarmac! Well done Hares this was a gem of a Run.

Checks were well set,  Spice Girl called the On!
Pizza lead the way along the Giwadha Track
The Happy Hares Bootee & Biggus Dickus
New Runners take a down down - welcome Wopa, Crown Larger & Flower
The On On was fun:
Skiddy did a raffle to aid our Hash Cash funds. Various items that he and Sherpa (sadly missed due to a bug) had been too embarrassed to give away to friends were eagerly snapped up with cash.
Wopa made a boo boo in that he didn't realise that Spice Girl was on her day off and referred to her as Call Girl - even Craig Thompson wouldn't have made that mistake.

There followed a lavish veggie lasagne with tiramisu. Thanks Hares it was a really good run. On On

Next Run - Sunday 06th May 2012 - Start of 4PM + Words & Photos

Hashers are invited to enjoy the Trails of your Hares: Biggus Dickus & Bootee

Location: McDowall (address e-mailed or ring 0410226466)   Time: 4 PM

April Fools Words of wisdom:

Well the weather was nice to us which is more than I can say for the smiling
Skipper "Stubby" who lead us on an undulating trial through what was part of
the old Dayboro railway. Cresting hill after hill like giant waves.  Withour numbers having been depleted by the loss of Gerbils and Whippet toMongolia, and the absence of Rumour monger and Spice girl, a cast of 10members still rallied to the call. The whole thing almost sounds like are-run of Gilligan's island. So here's the report by Biggus Dickus:
The Hares  Run Was Conveniently Tilted - Down Down!!

Just sit right back
And you'll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful run,
That started on a tropo trail,
As the Samford Inc Hash Club.
The Hare was a mighty Stubby' man,
With Schnapps so brave and sure,
Ten hashers set on trail that day,
At ten mintues past four,
At ten minutes past four.

The Shiggy started getting rough,
The Hashers were all cross.
If not for the courage of the fearless Hares
The Hashers would be lost.
The Hashers would be lost.

The Hashers set upon the ground
Of this uncharted rocky trial
With Skidmark,and Sherpa too.
The Verbal Diarrhoea
And Bite N' Suck,
The Tooheys New,
Biggus, Bootee, XXXX in a can.
Here on the Samford Trial.

(Ending verse)
So this is the tale of our Hashers bold,
Chasing beer for a long, long time.
They'll have to make the best of things,
It's an uphill climb.

Good'ol Schnapps and Stubby too
Will do their very best,
To make the Hashers comf'terble
In their tropo trail contest.

No phone, no train, no motor car,
Not a single luxury
Except for a high tension power line,
It's primitive as can be.
So join us here each Month my friends,
You're sure to have some fun,
With 10 exhausted Hashers
On the Samford Inc Hash Run!
RA Skiddy's servings of nectar went down quickly - after the photo was take
Congratulations to our new nappy changers. They will for sure need an extra hand..........
You work it out - how many hands did they grow out of their athletic bodies yet!!

Down Downs - The Hares (Stubby & Schnapps), Verbal Diarrhoea & Bite & Suck(for becoming Grand Parents), Skiddy ( for being obsessed with rocks)Verbal Diarrhoea for being accident prone.

Happy Easter and may your Easter Hares bring much chocolate,

Next Run - Sunday 01st April 2012 - Start of 4PM + Words & Photos

Hares: Stubby & Schnapps

Location: Wahminda Park (Opp Iron Bark Gully) Ferny Grove, Samford Road - UBD Page 117 - D/17

Start: 4 PM - Winter Time.

Last Run: Gerbils and Whippets farewell run, there on their way to live in the Ulan Bator freezer!

After checking in for his flight to Ulan Bator, Whippet nipped back to join us for the run. A hurried safety briefing regarding the numerous hills had us gasping for breath even before we set off.
Two runs were set and the checks had each and every one of us fooled at some stage or other and good timing meant the runners caught up with the walkers on the home straight.
Gerbils and Whippet enjoy a down down to celebrate the last time in bare feet for a couple of years!!
The Circle was held in the Departure Lounge, well that's what it looked like apart from the pots of Mongolian Lamb that were brought out for us to tuck into - yummy.

For the On On, to send them off in style - into the zone of discontinuous permafrost with an average annual temperature of minus 2.4 C Gerbils and Whippet were presented a modern day conventional Hot Water Bottle (or hottie).

Hotties are one of life's forgotten pleasures and remain a popular alternative in rural areas (for example, it is widely used in Mongolia). There has been a recent surge in popularity as it is seen to be an ecologically friendly and thrifty way to keep warm.
Warning! - There have been problems with premature failure of rubber hot water bottles due to unsuitable fillings containing yeast, identified as Cascade Premium Light.

Thanks Hares, good luck at the Hash Migration have a great safari and keep in touch.

The Year Of The Dragon Run + Next Run Details

Gong Xi Fa Chai - Welcome in the Year of The Dragon.

Their reputation for hospitality and fine runs drew Hashers from both South side and North side and we also welcomed quite a few new Hashers and a couple of returnees. Ned turned up in new shoes and had us laughing like Kookaburras cos we knew there was a good chance of some muddy trails.

The Hares always find some new trails, or maybe its that we can't remember back too far. However, we always have one or two compulsory crossings of the South Pine River to contend with and Ned did us proud with his slippy rocks routine, sadly Hash Flash missed the shot but we all heard the splash.

The On On was fun and we learnt that Whippet & Gerbils are off to Ulan Bator - just to prove that its there. I can't remember how many sinners there were but once that was over we fell under the spell of Spice Girl who proved that its not just Dragons that can have HOT breath.

Thanks Hares, and also those who travelled so far to join us, hope to see you again.

The runners at a hold check waiting for the Knitters!

Next Run - Sunday 05th Feb - Time of 5 PM

Another great Chinese New Year Run - Its the Year of the Dragon.

Your Hares: Rumourmonger & Spice Girl

Location: Undambi Rotary Res, O'Reilly Rd, off Mt Glorious Rd, Samford. UBD page 106 - E/14

Time: 5 PM - Hashers are to wear RED

Our last run was a Pot Luck at Samford, so was the Hare. It started OK but excessive "knitting" at the front lead to a dead end - not to worry, Cuntry knew the way cos he claimed "I've done it loads of times" Well of course we know that but it had nothing to do with the right trail and I think at the end of the run we had run 3 different trails. No one cared as we posed for Hash Flash, enjoyed the circle and tucked into Pot Luck.

A very Hashy New Year from the Pumpkins
New Years H3 Red Armee
Happy Hashing with the Greens
Pizza's serious look into the Hash future - more nectar!
Bye Bye shorts & chilled beers! Whippet and Gerbils will soon explore some Mongolian Hot(s)pots - they can set the run with ice cubes months ahead of time!!!!!
